Meet Kathy and Gary Leland of Leland’s Wallpaper in Arlington
Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathy and Gary Leland.
Leland’s was founded in 1981 by Kathy and Gary with an initial investment of twenty-five dollars they began selling custom mini blinds door to door.
Now they have evolved and sell everything from custom blinds, shutters, bedding, draperies, wallpaper, flooring, and fabric, for both residential, and commercial customers.
LelandWallpaper.com is the largest stocking wallpaper store in the state of Texas with a full showroom located in Arlington, TX.
They created one of the first websites dedicated to selling wallpaper in 1996, and now operate a network of websites dedicated to helping people with their decorating needs.
These websites consist of www.LelandsWallpaper.com www.SportsDecorating.com www.BrickWallpaper.com www.MuralWallpaper.com, and www.InteriorDecorate.com.
Gary and Kathy have also entered the world of new media. Gary started creating podcasts in 2004 and is now known as a pioneer in the world of podcasting, in 2016 Gary inducted into the Academy of Podcasters Hall of Fame in Chicago.
The couple also produces podcasts about the hit HGTV Shows Fixer Upper and Hometown. These podcasts can be found at www.DecoratingPodcasts.com along with many of the great video reviews of new wallpaper books that Kathy hosts
Because of Gary’s work in the field of New Media and Podcasting, Arlington’s Mayor Williams proclaimed March the 1st Gary Leland Day in 2017.
Their story is a true success of turning a twenty-five-dollar investment into a yearly seven figure business.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Since we started with a small twenty-five-dollar investment back in 1981, one of the main problems were handling the growth.
During the early years we had to put in our profits as fast as we made them in order to grow the business.
We have never borrowed a penny to grow our business to where it is today.

We have always believed that service is the easy place to stand out.
When customers come in our store, or contact us online they are given the best service we can possibly give.
With a world of websites like Yelp you can build the best advertising network just by having happy customers who will recommend you to the world via the internet.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
We both agreed on this one. Our favorite memories from childhood are the memories of hanging out with our brothers and sisters.
We have made a sincere effort to create those kinds of memories with our daughters Lauren and Amanda.
